The Talking Compounds II Project

 

Ngoma International artists in partnership with CBI will take on the Talking compounds activity, but this time from Regional to International level.

 

Project goals

1.To take stock of Great Lakes Regional Workshop – Talking CompoundsII

2.To scale up the activity.

3.To give an opportunity to communities and school children to identify development issues and concerns in their area and have them visually depicted in their compounds as an appeal to community members and policy makers to address them.

4.To enable artists to make a contribution towards development of the community using art as a medium.

5.To enrich the source of inspiration of the artists globally.

 

Specific Measurable Objectives:

  • To carry out a research to find out the impact of Talking Compounds1
  • Conduct educational talks in schools, health centers and administrative units.
  • To help the communities identify development issues and concerns amongst themselves.
  • To create educative and informative artistic expressions in compounds and halls of Administrative, Health and Community centers. (Kanoni Health Center 3, Kanoni Sub-county Hall,  Kazo Health Center 4 and)
  • To create original, inspirational and captivating sketches.
  • To promote intercultural interaction and exchange through Home-stays.

Project Description

Talking compounds is a project aimed at mobilizing communities and more especially school going children to identify development issues and concerns amongst their communities. This activity will involve six International and six Ugandan artists.
The activity will be held in the month of March-April 2008. The artists will attend a monthly market day, visit homes, conduct activities with schools, health centers, administrative units and group excursions. The group will visit L. Mburo National Game Park, where by all artists will develop sketches for their individual enrichment. The artists will work in two groups one in Kazo county and work with Kazo Health Center 4, Kazo Secondary and Kazo Primary school and the second with Kanoni Subcounty, Health center 3, Kanoni secondary and primary schools.)

 


Expected Out Put:

1.Talking compounds, lobbies and halls.

2.Mobilized communities.

3.Original and focused concerns captured to present to policy makers. 

4.Artist’s ideas enriched.

5.A catalogue of original sketches.
